Abstract: Russia, the world’s largest country, is home to diverse ecosystems but faces challenges reconciling economic growth with environmental sustainability. This article analyses the implementation of SDGs in Russia. We conclude that a new modelling approach is needed to evaluate Russia’s spatial, economic, and ecological impacts and to develop sustainability indicators for policy assessment. This model requires a comprehensive analysis of social, economic, and ecological data, including energy consumption and emissions, income, and labour market dynamics. Key sustainable development issues such as resource management, rural economic growth, transportation’s environmental effects, and energy use must be addressed. Implementing the model will enable stakeholders to compare policies and enhance sustainability throughout Russia.
